Advancing Hyperloop Development in Hamburg: UITP Summit 2025

During the UITP Global Public Transport Summit 2025, the Hyperloop Development Program (HDP) and its European partners expressed their full support for the City of Hamburg’s ambition to develop a Hyperloop reference track.

In a constructive exchange with representatives of the city government, the parties aligned on a shared vision to position the hyperloop track as a flagship project within Hamburg’s innovation strategy. The track is also envisioned as a key component of the city’s bid to host the Olympic Games.

The City of Hamburg recognizes the Hyperloop Development Program as a strategic partner in mobilizing private finance for the construction and operation of the proposed infrastructure. The development may initially focus on a first-phase extension towards Kiel, strengthening regional connectivity and showcasing hyperloop’s potential as a future mode of sustainable high-speed transport.

This dialogue marks a significant step toward realizing a European hyperloop network, and HDP looks forward to continuing its collaboration with the City of Hamburg in the coming years, including a return to the city for the UITP Summit 2027.
